Getting Started in the Jungle

What the DLC adds and the first things to prioritize.

What “In the Jungle” is

In the Jungle drops Dave into Utara Village on a lake, swapping the open ocean for a freshwater lake, a prehistoric Sea Beneath the Lake, and forest fishing spots. You still balance diving by day with running a grill by night โ€” now it’s Bancho Grill instead of the sushi bar.

The Jungle Gun

Your main tool is the Jungle Gun, a multi-mode capture weapon:

  • Harpoon mode โ€” handles standard and smaller fish.
  • Net mode โ€” best for fast schooling fish like the Red-Bellied Piranha.
  • Knockout / sleep โ€” subdue large or dangerous creatures, then send the drone to extract them.

Collect Sunang Stones (via the Laser Emitter, unlocked in Chapter 2) to upgrade it.

First priorities

  1. Push the early story. Chapters 1โ€“2 hand you the house, the Purification Filter, the Carpenter, the Blacksmith, and core tools. Don’t grind before you have these.
  2. Recruit Rover first. His VIP mission is time-sensitive (2 days) and his tip skill snowballs your Doni economy. See Staff.
  3. Raise three villagers to 3 hearts โ€” required in Chapter 3 to move the boulder to Setah Forest.
  4. Start crab traps early. Several crustaceans only come from traps on bubbling rocks.

Where things live

  • Utara Lake (Upper) โ€” 0โ€“35 m, your starting waters.
  • Utara Lake (Lower) โ€” 35โ€“75 m, unlocked as the story progresses.
  • Lakebed Sea โ€” the prehistoric zone beneath the lake (needs the Jungle Suit).
  • Fishing โ€” Surga Falls and Setah Forest, rod-only catches.
