Found on tree trunks/walls. Beetle battles are rock-paper-scissors — type, Attack, and HP matter.
How bug catching works
- Bug Net unlocks during the 'Lipah's Fireflies' sub mission (Chapter 2). Approach an insect and press the prompt; butterflies are easy, others must be crept up on slowly.
- The Insectagram app unlocks during 'The Torn Bug Net' (Chapter 3, when Udo arrives). It tracks caught bugs and emits an audio cue near uncaught ones.
- Insects up to the Atlas Moth fly and are caught mid-air; everything from the Lesser Stag Beetle onward are battle beetles found on trunks/walls.
- Beetle battles are rock-paper-scissors over 10 rounds; each beetle has Attack, HP, and a type (Rock/Paper/Scissors). Matching your beetle's type grants a bonus. Beetles heal overnight or via Insect Jelly (sold by Udo, who also sells 3 beetles/day).
- Farm rare beetles by entering/exiting Murau Temple to refresh spawns. Flamecrest Stag Beetle needs 50% Insectagram completion; Golden Tiger Beetle needs 100%.
